Well, what a lovely weekend it has been. So the weather hasn’t been great and I didn’t get up to anything remotely exciting, but it was spent doing things I love to do and the people I love to spend time with.
I started my Saturday with a lovely bowl of Dorset Cereals Tasty High Fibre Flakes with warm almond milk and orange and strawberries…
This was so good! I’m loving my Dorset Cereals at the moment. Tesco’s currently have a 3 for 2 promotion across their cereal ranges. I stocked up on my 1kg of Mornflake oats, Dorset Cereals Tasty High Fibre Flakes, Dorset Cereals Tasty Low Fat Flakes last week. This week I took advantage of the promotion again and picked up some Dorset Cereals Simply Delicious Muesli, Dorset Cereals Tasty Fruit and Fibre and a box of Rude Health Super Fruity Muesli. As you can see, I love my supermarket deals, especially on something so yummy! Breakfast is by far my favourite meal of the day, so tasty cereals and oats are a must!
After my grocery shop I visited the market to refill by fruit bowl and got some great deals. I’m looking to save a bit of money at the moment and have found getting my fruit from the market or green grocers far more cost effective. Whilst in town I also visited Ikea and got lost! The store is really huge and I hate the way you are forced to go around the whole store. In my attempt to escape and find a short cut to the exit I got lost and ended up in the children’s section. The people at Ikea are smart, making you go all the way around the store before you leave. It tempts you to buy all of their amazing offers. I certainly picked up a few bits, which you most probably will be seeing on the blog.
When I got home I was really hungry and so I refueled on a mega green smoothie.
This thing was huge and included an apple, celery, lots of spinach, wheat germ almond milk…yum!
The saving money aspect also stopped me going to Leamington Spa this weekend. I had already decided that I wasn’t going to buy anything, despite all of the tempting delis, cook shops and independent health food shops. At the time I couldn’t justify the trip or the petrol money.
I’m actually glad I didn’t make the trip. I spent most of the afternoon baking some lovely treats for my Nan and Mum. Have a look…
I was in the kitchen for quite some time baking these lovelies. A Leek, Bean and Spinach Soup and some Red Pepper Hummus was also made. I have a great tip for those of you that always overdose on the cake batter. Admittedly, scraping out the bowl is the best part about baking but a sugar induced coma is not a good way to spend a Saturday off work. Instead I chewed on some gum whilst baking. It seriously works! I didn’t eat any cake batter…erm…well not that much! 🙂
For dinner I made a vegetable stir fry, which included French beans, kale, baby corn, green pepper and courgettes and served them with a pan fried plaice fillet…
I made a tasty sauce for the veggies made using soya sauce, hot chilli sauce, honey, sesame oil and garlic.
I haven’t had fish for such a long time and have really missed it. This was such a light and flavoursome meal and really fast to make. It only took 15 minutes maximum to cook once I knew what I was doing.
I had a cosy evening in planned on the sofa watching Breakfast At Tiffany’s eating my Choco, PB and Nana Pudding.
I had never seen this film before, but I loved it! Audrey Hepburn was amazing as Holly Golightly (awesome name!).
Oh my! The beautiful dresses and jewelry were simple amazing. So classy and elegant in every scene. My favorite designers are Chanel, YSL and Givenchy for their simplicity and innovative creations, so as you can imagine I was in awe of every outfit Audrey Hepburn was wearing.
And how beautiful was Audrey Hepburn…

This morning I went for a 4 mile run around the park. It was actually quite pleasant outside and not as cold as it has been. I managed a pace of 10.30 miles/minute in 42 minutes. Not bad, but I really want to to get my average pace below 10 miles/minute- something for me to work on. I do like a challenge! For breakfast I had a huge bowl of oats with blueberries and a pear and topped with some almond butter:

I packed up the cakes I made yesterday and headed to my Mums house and then my Nan’s to spend the afternoon. The oats were so filling, so I just packed two pink lady apples and a Luna Caramel Nut Brownie bar to eat during the day and drank a lot of tea.
Dinner tonight was a salad, a very sexy salad! A sneaky peek…
This was so good that I am making it my second salad as part of my Sex Up Your Salad Challenge. The recipe will be posted later this week!
For dessert I made a strawberry and tofu smoothie that I put in the freezer for 30 minutes to chill.
I topped it with some raw chocolate covered mulberry berries and mixed seeds.
I’ve had such a great weekend. The cakes went down really well too, which made it even better I have a few plans for the blog over the next coming weeks, which will involve some changes to the way it looks etc. I have some great posts planned for this week too including a product review, a new sexy salad recipe and the granola truffle recipe that I was supposed to post last week (sorry!).
