It’s all so quiet

Happy Friday guys!  I’m so glad that the weekend has come around again.

It’s felt like I have been in solitary confinement all week writing my thesis and reading research papers.  All alone.  By myself.  No one to talk to.  Did I mention that I’ve been all alone.  Ha!  Ok so maybe I’m being a bit over dramatic but I do miss my lab and carrying out experiments and being around lots of people instead of being at home and in the library  in silence.

As a result my workouts have been a saviour this week and I am really relying on then to help me keep some routine to my day.  On Wednesday I went for a 4.5 mile run in 42 minute with a 9.09 pace. 😀 I’ve also been doing my Thursday strength workout and today a cardio workout and abs and core.  Yoga has also been great as a stress reliever so I have been squeezing that in when I can too.

And of course there is always time for some gorgeous eats:

A delicious green smoothie in a bowl made from spinach, a banana, strawberries, blueberries, carob powder, maca powder, water, hemp protein powder, xanthan gum and guar gum topped with tropical Bear granola, cacao nibs and raw macadamia nut butter. Perfect!

Yesterday for breakfast I made a mixed cereal bowl that included puffed rice, bran flakes, pink apple and cinnamon granola and peanut butter puffins with fresh strawberries and peanut butter.  This was just lovely and it was great that I got to taste all of my favourite cereals all in one bowl.

Lots of Carrot and Lentil Soup has been making a feature at lunch times:

The previous two nights I have been eating a really simple but amazing chilli and ginger tofu and vegetable stir fry:

It’s been a while since I’ve had a great pile of veggies like this for dinner and I enjoyed every bit of it.  In to the wok went firm tofu, carrots, savoy cabbage, green peppers, courgettes, spinach, mushrooms, onion, garlic and aubergine.  The sauce was made from a sweet chilli and ginger sauce, soy sauce and ume plum vinegar and a sprinkle of roasted soy nuts was added for extra crunch.

I’ve also been enjoying some super tasty raw chocolate in the form of an cranberry and orange Ombar.

I haven’t had any raw chocolate for ages so this felt like a real treat. 😀

After quite a silent week this weekend I’m surrounding myself with all of my bestest people.  On Saturday night I’m attending one of my best friends wedding reception as a conclusion to the Mendhi party that I went to last weekend.  I couldn’t make the actual wedding so I cannot wait to party it up and celebrate my friends marriage.  Also my family are popping round on Sunday and I’ve baked some lovely lemon cupcakes.  I even made the effort and got my piping bag out too!

I hope they like them!

I’ve got a run planned and I may be going to the cinema’s to watch One Day too.  I haven’t even read my copy of the book yet, but I really want to see the movie. At least this way round I won’t be disappointed as the book is always better than the movie. FACT!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone. 🙂

Do you ever go insane if you are in your own company for way too long or is that just me?

What have you all got planned for this weekend?

  1. your food always looks sooo good!

this weekend is actually a chill weekend! we’ve had company the past few weekends and its going to be so nice to be able to sit back and relax. and do a lot of cleaning of course.

  2. Girl, I totally understand how you feel about feeilng like you are in solitary confinement all day – I’m alone at home too at the moment looking for work, and I find my gym sessions and yoga classes an absolute savior for staying sane and creating a sense of routine…I still get really lonely, but I am actuallygetting more used to this situation…everything is hard before it’s easy 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful weekend, and that your thesis is going well! ❤ xyx

  3. Your cupcakes look amazing! I do go a little stir crazy when I work from home but that’s more from being indoors rather than my own company! You really have me craving a big stir fry right now 🙂

  4. So cute, those cupcakes look yummy. Have a great weekend!

Enjoy the wedding reception! That chocolate looks amazing, but those cupcakes look even better 🙂
When I am too long in my own company, I also try to “occupy” myself with workouts or long walks, just to feel I am not alone. And yoga really relieves all the tension from “strange” feelings.

  6. Haha I HAVE to be around people!!! I hate sitting around alone! That’s why I’m glad I have roommates!

And that cereal bowl reminded me that I have a few puffins at home… hehe I can’t wait to snack on those when I get home!

  7. I love love my alone time, and often crave it if I’m around people for too long. But then if I’m alone too long I start to get lonely and bored and the like – but I often don’t realize it until I see people again!

  8. I enjoy my own company for a little while, but if I have to spend TOO much time alone with myself, I start going a little loopy. That’s when I know it’s time to go out and mingle with some people 😀 Unfortunately, this weekend I won’t be able to do much mingling. I’m moving soon and I’ve barely even started packing! All of those empty boxes are taunting me, so I’ve got to start filling them up.

All of your food looks really tasty. I have been craving soup ever since the weather started cooling down and seeing yours makes me think i should definitely make a batch. I’m envious of your piping skills; the frosting on the cupcakes looks great!

  10. Those cupcakes are so pretty.
I like time on my own because at work I am surrounded by 30 children plus adults and have to talk all day! But after a day or so I get fed up (if Andy is away or something). I like a balance.

  11. What a busy time! Your cupcakes look yummy! I haven’t read One Day yet but really want to! And I am dying to make my 1st ever green smoothie soon 🙂

  12. Those cupcakes look fantastic! Your piping is very good 🙂
I like my own company, but after a day or so I start to go a bit stir crazy – in those situations exercise is definitely a life-saver!

  13. How pretty are those cupcakes!?!?!! You have skills girl 😉
I agree, the best thing against stress is yoga! I joined my first power yoga class today! So hard, and so fun 🙂
    Enjoy your weekend<3

  14. You’re right, the book is always better than the film. Time Traveller’s Wife= amazing book, horrendous film!

I go mad when I’m on my own too much, which is why this summer has been so tricky for me.

Hope you’re having a great weekend xxx

  15. Those cupcakes are so pretty! You have some serious skills lady 🙂

  16. Your cupcakes are so pretty!! I have a cupcake decorator but they never come out looking quite right.

  17. Congrats on your pace, you’re so fast now!! The cupcakes looked delicious :-).

I spend a lot of time on my own at the moment living in a new area without many friends so I can definitely empathise with you! I’ve taken up reading soppy novels to keep me entertained!
