Happy WIAW everyone! I hope you are all having a fabulous week.
I have been trying to get back in the work groove after the Easter break. I was working on Bank Holiday Monday so it wasn’t too hard to get back to my thesis yesterday.
On Sunday I woke up super early to get my Orange and Cranberry Hot Cross Buns in the oven so that they were ready for breakfast. Getting up early on a Sunday is always difficult at the best of times but the smell in my house as the buns were baking was incredible and made it so worth it.
So fresh out of the oven breakfast was served topped with blueberry and blackcurrant jam and Pure spread and a mug of chai tea…amazingly good! I also went back for a third one too! And whilst the dough was proving I managed to fit in my work out too of level 1 and 2 from the 30 Day Shred.
Easter was quite a family affair for us as Alfie’s family and mine came over to see the church that we have chosen to get married it. We headed to the Easter service in the morning, met the vicar who will be marrying us and then went to our reception venue so Alfie’s family could go and see it. Everyone loved the beautiful church and the venue, which made us both happy.
I had booked all of us in to a favourite restaurant of ours by the river for Easter lunch at The Saxon Mill.
We all skipped the starters and headed straight to the mains which I was happy about as I was starving. I picked the salmon fillet with roasted butternut squash and a pesto sauce.
This was just gorgeous especially with the serving of fries that I also had on the side.
And of course there is always time for dessert and the apple and berry crumble was popular at our table as all but one ordered one- it was that good!
After that epic lunch we all said our goodbyes and headed home. It was one of those heavy stomach moments after Sunday lunch affairs and after getting up so early I just had to take a nap.
Easter just isn’t Easter without chocolate!
The rest of the say was spent in my pj’s on the sofa watching tv. Since I wasn’t very hungry for dinner I had a snacky moment. I had lots of my dark chocolate selection and lots of fruit which went perfect with a movie. We watched the Lincoln Lawyer with Matthew Macconaughey, which was actually really good.
It really was a lovely Easter Sunday!
Have you got back into the work groove yet after Easter?
What is the best thing that you have eaten today?
Gotta love thorntons!!!
Glad I’m not the only one out there!
butternut squash and salmon are possibly my two favourite foods. i got some hotel chocolate goodies.
Hotel chocolat is so delicious…jealous!
I definitely would have gone with something similar… salmon and squash, you pretty much cannot go wrong, especially when pesto is involved!
It was such a great combination!
Your day sounds lovely, it must have been nice to have your two families together! I’m definitely back into the swing of things after Easter, I have a monster report for work to do!
Ouch! That sounds painful- I hope it is going well!
Having a family day sounds lovely 🙂 I am going back to work next week which will be a real shock to the system- have not had this much time off before! Ah well I am looking forward to the routine and normality.
I hope next week goes well for you and you enjoy being back in a routine. 😀
Mmmm, I want that dessert!
I got back into work on Monday, but it wasn’t easy!
Work is always tough after a break. I hope it is better for you now!
your salmon and butternut squash look simply divine!!!
Oh it was! 😀
The Sunday lunch looks really good. Fruit crumble is my favourite dessert ever, so I definitely would have chosen it too!
You cannot beat a crumble! 😀
I love that movie! I wouldn’t shut up about it to my friends when I first saw it. Sounds like you had a fab Easter 🙂
Heehe! I really enjoyed it, love a crime thriller! 😀
Hot Cross Buns look delish! Def worth waking up early for 🙂
For sure! 😀
I love salmon and crumble; that meal looks so good! My mum made a mean rhubarb crumble on Easter Sunday, it was perfect with some honeycomb ice cream *drool* 🙂
I’m impressed at your self-control waiting for the buns to come out, I wouldn’t have lasted!
Hehehe! Well we did actually eat them straight of the baking tray so not that much patience!
Looks like a great Easter! I’ve never had hot cross buns, but yours look amazing.
Thank you! They are kind of like tea cakes with dried fruit and spices.
I haven’t had much to eat yet today, but the pb2 and apples were yummy!
Oooooh that sounds lovely!
Trying to get my groove back even if my back isn’t playing ball! My breakfast smoothie as always x x
