Getting back to my eats

Hello loves!  Wohoooo it’s Friday!  I don’t know about you but I’m super happy that the weekend has come around so fast again.  Where do the weeks go these days- it’s crazy!

Since getting Bath I have been getting back to the old routine by hitting the gym and getting back on track with my workout schedule:

Monday: A 1.82 miles in 15 minutes run with Alfie plus and ab workout, lunges, squats, press ups and tricep dips.

Tuesday: Rest day

Wednesday: 20 minute cross country on the cross trainer plus 30 minutes of intervals on the bike, adaptive motion trainer and step machine.

Thursday: 15 minute warm-up intervals, strength workout 2, 5 minutes cool down

Friday: 30 minutes of high intensity intervals on the treadmill and 30 minutes of intervals on the step machine, bike and cross trainer plus abs and core work.

I’ve also been getting back to making my own meals in the kitchen which I’ve really enjoyed, particularly my breakfasts.  I missed my oats and green smoothies for breakfast-they beat hotel breakfasts by far!

Homemade Pumpkin Butter oats made using 1/2 cup of oats, 2 cups of water, 1 cup of soya milk, 2 tbsps of my pumpkin butter with plain soya yoghurt, hazelnuts and raw shredded coconut.

A luscious green smoothie made using 1 banana, spinach, maca powder, water, almond extract, xanthan gum and guar gum topped with Mornflake extra crispy muesli and plain soya yoghurt.

Another hearty bowl of oats: 1/2 oats, 2 cups of water, 1 cup of soya milk, a chopped apple, blackberries, cinnamon, plain soya yoghurt, maple syrup and crunch peanut butter.

I’ve also been enjoying lots of Carrot and Sweet Potato soup in my new soup bowl that I picked up in Bath- cute right? I couldn’t resist it when I saw it.  It’s perfect for the colder temperature as I have a feeling that I will be eating a lot of soup.

I’ve been snacking on a lot of pumpkin recently, well ‘tis the season!  Eating it cold drizzled with a peanut flour and maple syrup sauce makes it extra special.  I do prefer squash but this pumpkin tasted fab!

Then of course there is the classic rice cakes topped with peanut butter and a chopped banana.  A standard combo, but it’s always so good!

I’ve also been eating a lot of simple salads to feel more balanced after all of that restaurant food I was becoming accustomed to in Bath.  It all tasted gorgeous but I was happy to get back to my salads and feeling more like myself again.  This one included romaine lettuce leaves, half an avocado, pumpkin, cucumber and a green pepper.  Really simple but exactly what my body needed.

Whilst away I was sent some lovely products to review:

Booja-Booja stem ginger chocolate truffles and some Sakata Japanese rice crackers.  I can’t wait to review these products, especially after trying the plain rice crackers today with my salad-delish!

This weekend in the UK it’s bonfire night.  I’ve always loved this celebration since I was little so I can’t wait to see the sky lit up with fire works.  My neighbours’ have already got into the spirit and started their celebrations early, which means a freebie show from my window in the comfort of my own home.  🙂

I’m off to London for a wedding tomorrow, which should be lovely.  Here’s wishing that they have a fire work display planned!

Have a great weekend everyone!

What foods do you look forward to eating when you get back from a break away?

Are you going to any firework displays this weekend or do you have something else planned?

  1. Oh I love your soup bowl…so cute! I definitely miss green smoothies when I am travelling. I think I am going to go to the big display in Cardiff tomorrow, the weather is supposed to be dry which makes a change as it usually rains! Have a great weekend!

  2. I love that bowl! It’s so cute! I think I love the spoon even more 🙂

Enjoy London this weekend! I’m so jealous!

  3. Yes, that bowl is super cute and adorable 🙂

  4. I always miss my greens when I’m away, as no matter where you go you never get enough! I always hit the green smoothies and salads in a big way when I come back. Hope you enjoy the wedding!

I wish we had a fun celebration-y thing like you lot do for Guy Fawkes. We have no winter celebrations, just 4th of July.

what a great soup bowl, i love that you have an attached spoon “holder” on the side! i am jealous you get to review booja booja’s truffles. 🙂 i absolutely love them, so please enjoy some on my behalf …:))

  7. Oh, I would love to try those rice crackers!

For me it’s not so much the food that I miss, but the feeling of being comfortable while eating it, due to familiar surroundings. I think if I had to pick one it would probably be smoothies though 🙂

  8. MY mum’s just bought me some of those crackers – looking forward to trying them and I love that soup bowl!
I’m a bit meh about fireworks; can;t really see the point but my village does a really good display of floats through on Bonfire Night so I’ll be watching that – but then I’d rather go to the pub than the park afterwards 🙂

  9. I definitely crave healthy foods after I’ve been on vacation. I tend to overeat a lot when I’m traveling, so it’s nice to get back to a routine and healthy food 🙂

  10. Yummy eats! I love that bowl and that carrot and sweet potato soup sounds delish! 🙂

  11. i LOVE that bowl! it just makes me wanna eat soup even more!
and those oats look so creamy! after vacations i deff crave oats 🙂

  12. The pumpkin with peanut flour looks amazing! I always miss big salads when I go away, restaurant salad portions seem so small to me. x

  13. mmm the pumpkin butter sounds fantasticc! i love fireworks, don’t have anything planned atm.

  14. I have a bowl like that! Saw it in a garden centre over the summer and snapped it up immediately, love it!

After my holiday in Crete I was craaaaving oats – they didn’t even have museli for breakfast, let alone porridge 😦

I missed out on bonfire night this year as I was stuck inside writing an essay, so I think I’m going to throw a random fireworks party another time to make up for it!
